The National Archives of Australia keeps records of the Australian Government that are of enduring value to the Australian people. The main focus of the collection is records created since Federation in 1901.

Holdings include:

  • papers of governors-general, prime ministers and judges
  • Cabinet documents and royal commission files
  • departmental records on defence, immigration, security and intelligence, and naturalisation.

The collection gives insight into the events and decisions that have shaped the Australian nation. From the vast collection, we select records to include in Vrroom. Read more about our selection of records.
